Evaluation - Q4. How did you use media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages?

Finally, in the Evaluation stage, I again used the internet to construct my evaluation but I done it in a form of a blog. By doing this, I was able to write but also upload images of my tasks as well as my music video. This worked well because it split my writing up but also the pictures made it more interesting to look at. As well as picture, I can also upload a copy of my music video making my whole blog more interesting. As well as using the blog for my evaluation, I was able to use it to keep a record of what I have done in these tasks.

Evaluation - Q4. How did you use media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages?

In the research and planning stages, I used the internet to get the information I needed to understand the codes and conventions of my genre. By using the internet I was able to research the web for other artists in my genre. I was also able to then watch videos from my genre and find out what the codes and conventions were. This was the easiest way of me finding out this information and having other artists inspire me.

Evaluation - Q4. How did you use media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages?

One of the main media technologies I used in the construction stage was the video camera. This was one of the most important media technologies that I have used. I needed to create a moving image piece of work and this is why the video camera best suited the role. Using this, I was able to capture different angles to portray my music video; however, the main angle that worked very well in my music video was the mid shot where I walked backwards with Lorna so that the camera was moving with the singer. I achieved this by putting the camera on the fig rig. Another useful piece of equipment that allowed me to achieve the best out of my camera was a tripod.

Evaluation - Q4. How did you use media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages?

There were many different media technologies that I used in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages of my work. In the construction stages, I used a number of different media technologies to complete my pieces of work. Out of the technologies that I used, the only one that was new to me was Photoshop. At first this was difficult to use as there was a lot of different tools and I didn’t know what each one done. However, when I started to experiment, I easily got to grips with how it worked.

Evaluation - Q3. What have you learned from your Audience Feedback?

Finally, I got people to look at my music video and the main thing that was mentioned was to put effects on it. This was one thing I knew needed to be done but being told it proved that a successful music video from my genre has a lot of effects. Straight away, I acted on this and the effects I liked best were the bloom/dazzle and my favourite was the find edges that we decided to put over a clip of the Lego. As well as this, it was also mentioned to film in a different location which is when we decided to have her walking down a street and also have her in the black room to experiment with the lighting. These two locations are also common locations of the synth pop genre. These comments helped improve my work because it made my music video fit my genre more than without the effects and other locations. Feedback is an important part of information as it allows other people to view your work and suggest things that you might have not thought of. Also, it allows a person who has not been working on it to suggest ideas and say if anything isn't quite right. This is useful because as i have been working on it non stop, i could have missed tiny details that others don't.

Evaluation - Q3. What have you learned from your Audience Feedback?

Next, I asked people to look at my magazine advert and the only comment made was to have the writing of the band name and album inside the sunglasses lens instead of across. I tried this out to see what it looked like and liked it better than across the page. Also it fitted with having Lorna inside the sunglasses lens.

Evaluation - Q3. What have you learned from your Audience Feedback?

Secondly, I got people to look at the inside cover and two comments were made. Again, I acted on both. First, it was mentioned that I should have one of the sunglasses arms a different colour so that it stood out and it was clear what it was. So I looked through my colours and decided to have red as it stood out well against the green. The second comment which was made was to have an effect on Lorna as it was just a normal digital picture which I had cut her out from using the magic wand tool. I looked through all the effects and chose my favourite one. I did think it looked a lot better and actually the difference of it fitted my genre well.

Evaluation - Q3. What have you learned from your Audience Feedback?

After creating my ancillary tasks, I had some feedback which I was then able to take on board and develop my idea. To start with, I got feedback on my DVD cover. One comment that was made was to have the sunglasses actually on the little images of Lorna that were placed in the bigger sunglasses. Also, originally I had the track listings on the back of my cover in the sunglasses arms in red to fit into my colour scheme, however, when others looked at it, it was mentioned that I should change that as it clashed too much and the writing wasn’t clear. After listening to these comments, I did decide to act on them both. I put the glasses on Lorna. This worked well, however, I then thought it was too much green so I changed it to red to follow the inside cover. I also decided to have the track listing in a different colour which was still in my colour scheme. I chose blue which stood out and looked effective. The feedback enabled me to improve my work and make changes.

Evaluation - Q2.How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?

One thing that is a big link in my ancillary tasks but does not feature in my music video is the sunglasses. My work would be improved if the sunglasses were featured in my music video. However, the sunglasses are a recognisable prop in my genre. Due to this, I do not think it is a massive problem especially as I have my strong link with the colours. We have protrayed two types of images in the music video - first the performer and second the casual recording artist. I used the casual recording artist in my prink work, however, i used the sunglasses on top of my picture to try and create the 'fame' appearance. Therefore i think all my work targets the same audience as the image protrayed is very similar to one protrayed in the music video.

Evaluation - Q2.How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?

The last link between my music video and ancillary tasks is the song track. My music video is to the sound track, Bulletproof. On my ancillary tasks, this track is mentioned in my track listings. Again, this is a simple link. It is not as bold as the colour scheme; however it is still a link which would tell the audience that they are all linked.

Evaluation - Q2.How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?

Another way that my ancillary tasks link to my music video is through the colour scheme. In my music video, there were a lot of colours used such as, green, red, blue, yellow and purple. I wanted to include these colours in my ancillary tasks as a main link. After planning out my design, I wanted the main colours to be green and red as they stood out against each other. I then picked other colours from the video to use in my title. The colours I picked for this were blue, yellow, red, green and orange. I got the idea of orange after looking through my video and seeing that the lights created an orange colour. Also I decided to have my background black as I liked the scenes where Lorna performed in a black room with the lights. I thought the lights stood out well against the black and I wanted my colours to stand out. Also the bright colours that i have used in the title link the name of the artist - Allegro Neons - as i have used neon colours.

Evaluation - Q2.How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?

I think my ancillary tasks link well to my main project - music video. One thing that links them is by the obvious fact of having the singer on all the ancillary tasks as well as my music video. By having this, it clearly tells the audience that they are part of a package as they are by the same artist/singer. This was a simple but effective way of showing a link. Not only do I have the singer on my ancillary tasks but I have the singer in the recording studio which is featured in my video.

Evaluation - Q1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

However, one code that I believe we changed slightly was the stop motion where we used Lego features instead of objects. When researching my genre, I found that the stop motion was mainly using objects; however we wanted it to be people. I think this worked well and linked with the genre and the way we wanted it portrayed. Our aim was to have the stop motion as dancers along with Lorna.

Evaluation - Q1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

The bright colours and the stop motion were the main things that inspired me. The bright colours are the one thing that works very effectively throughout my work. I have used colours that catch the viewer’s attention so that they are interested in my work and want to look at it. But the main reason why I used this was because of the way my genre links well to the bright colours. The stop motion is a recognisable element in my genre and so I wanted to portray this in the music video.

Evaluation - Q1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My media products use, develop and challenge forms and conventions of real media products in the same genre. I looked through many different media texts in order for me to be able to understand the codes and conventions of my chosen genre – Synthpop. This then helped me produce my main product as well as my ancillary tasks. I looked at a number of artists such as Little Boots, Lights and Pixie Lott. After looking at these different artists a number of things came out that were occurring throughout were the bright colours, the special effects and the stop motion. It all gave a funky, in your face atmosphere in their work. So when making my work, I decided I wanted to take these elements and use them in mine.
